A Scarsdale officer on patrol at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, spotted village resident Nagasaki Iturriaga, 36, driving east on Mamaroneck Road near the Post Road intersection without a seatbelt on, prompting a traffic stop.
During the traffic stop at the intersection of Ridgecrest West and Fenimore Road, Iturriaga was only able to produce a passport and told police that his driver’s license had been revoked.
A subsequent DMV computer check of Iturriaga determined that his license had been revoked, had active suspensions, and he was supposed to be driving in a vehicle with an interlock device. Iturriaga was driving his girlfriend’s car when he was stopped, which was not equipped with an interlock device.
According to police, Iturriaga had active suspensions on his license for failing to pay a fine, driving while ability impaired by alcohol, refusal to submit to a chemical test and failure to answer a summons.
Iturriaga was arrested at the scene and taken into custody, where it was further discovered that he was on probation in Westchester County. Iturriaga was charged with circumventing an interlock device and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. He was also cited for not wearing a seatbelt and operating a motor vehicle as an unlicensed driver.
After posting $100 bail, Iturriaga was released and is scheduled to appear in Scarsdale Village Court at a later date to respond to the charges.
